Australian National Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Registry

The Australian National Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Registry (ANCJDR) was established in October 1993 in response to the recognition of four probable Australian human pituitary hormone related CJD deaths.

State Neuropathology Service

The State Neuropathology Service (SNS) provides a muscle and nerve diagnostic service for hospitals and medical clinics throughout Victoria, Tasmania , the Northern Territory and parts of Southern New South Wales.

Biorepository

The Biorepository supports the work of large multidisciplinary genetic epidemiological research studies and is housed within the southey Research Laboratory in the Department of Pathology.

Electron Microscopy

The Department of Pathology EM Unit is now a core facility of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences located on level 2 in the Pathology wing of the Medical building. All instrumentation in the Faculty has been relocated to this EM unit which has become a central networking hub.

Histology Facility

The Laboratory acts as a service facility within the Department, to meet the teaching and research needs of staff and students, as well as providing occasional work for sources external to the University.
