Histology Facility

The Histology Facility, a NATA-accredited laboratory (Accreditation # 3196), is now located on Level 2 in the East Wing of the Medical Building. The Laboratory acts as a service facility within the Departments of Pathology and Anatomy and Cell Biology, to meet the teaching and research needs of staff and students, as well as providing occasional work for sources external to the University. The Facility conducts various types of fixed-tissue tests (over 20 types of stains and 17 types of immunohistochemistry tests) in accordance with established protocols.

In addition, the Facility provides a diagnostic service as an extension to the State Neuropathology Service. It also provides services to the National Neural Tissue Resource Centre and Australian National CJD Registry.
