State Neuropathology Service

The State Neuropathology Service (SNS) provides a muscle and nerve diagnostic service for hospitals and medical clinics throughout Victoria, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and parts of Southern New South Wales.

At the SNS, tests are performed to evaluate changes in morphology and enzyme activity of muscle, and morphological changes in peripheral nerve specimens.

How to order a muscle/nerve biopsy kit:

Contact us by telephone on 03 8344 5866 at least 48 hours prior to conducting the biopsy, and provide us with your delivery address.

Requests for biopsy kits received prior to 3pm will be dispatched on the same day at no charge to the requester.

How to return a muscle/nerve biopsy:

Biopsies must be received by SNS by 4pm. It is the requester's responsibility to pay freight charges.
