Students - Special consideration

All students should be aware of changes in the guidelines for special consideration. In particular, they should take note of the process for obtaining special consideration for any subject or assessment component for which the student is severely disadvantaged.

If you are ill or affected by other circumstances and your study is adversely affected or you miss or are late with an assessment task, then you must submit a request for special consideration, following the correct procedure. Details are provided in the 2005 Student Diary (p 178). In brief, you should apply online within three working days of the due date for the relevant assessment task. An HCAP form must also be completed by your doctor or other health care professional or counselor. A decision on the outcome of your application will be made by the subject Board of Examiners at the end of semester. A successful application for special consideration is the only way that a mark can be adjusted, a missed assessment task discounted or a special exam offered.
